Touhou Kourindou: Appraisal Records

Running Kourindou

Touhou Kourindou: Appraisal Records is a shopkeeping and appraisal puzzle game for PC, set in Gensokyo during the Scarlet Mist incident. You play Rinnosuke Morichika, keeper of Kourindou, a curio shop on the edge of the Forest of Magic. Its stock comes from Muenzuka, where objects from the Outside World wash up, including umbrellas, wristwatches and cassette players.

Rinnosuke can name an object and explain its purpose at a glance, but his explanation is usually wrong. You handle each find, inspect its important parts and work out how to operate it. That might mean pressing a button, turning a dial, holding something down or shaking the object. Getting it to work without a hint earns a masterful appraisal. Broken finds can be repaired with cloth, oil and glue.
