The Westport Independent

A Closer Look at The Westport Independent's Setting

Set against the backdrop of a post-war nation navigating the complexities of governance, The Westport Independent immerses players in a world shaped by censorship and political intrigue. The game places you in the shoes of an editor working for a local newspaper under the cautious eye of the newly elected Loyalist Party. In this tense environment, every editorial decision carries weight, impacting not just the publication, but the lives of those you serve.

Navigating Censorship in Journalism

As a censorship simulator, the game challenges players to manage the balance between free speech and governmental pressures. You are tasked with deciding which stories see the light of day and which get buried due to the party’s agenda. This integral mechanic forces players to confront moral dilemmas and consequences, compelling you to think critically about the role of media in society.
