The SwordSmith

Game premise and mechanics

The Swordsmith is a 2D crafting roguelite centered on forging swords. You assume the role of a swordsmith tasked with creating a blade to seal the Rift within a limited time frame of 70 days. The game features five hands-on stages of sword crafting, including managing furnace temperature and pressure while using quick time events to shape and finish each blade. Each sword can be made using the same recipe, but every strike has an impact on the final product, allowing for a variety of outcomes.

Combat and sword mechanics

In the game, your forged swords become autonomous fighters. Each blade takes on one of three combat roles: vanguard, mid-row, or back-row. They resonate with seven elemental types (Fire, Ice, Thunder, Wind, Water, Poison, and Earth) which interact with one another, creating a layered combat dynamic. Players can explore various builds as their crafting skills develop, and the game allows for a wide variety of combinations based on the swords crafted.
