The Light in the Darkness: Director's Cut

Story and setting

The Light in the Darkness: Director’s Cut is a free narrative game for PC about a Polish-Jewish family living in Nazi-occupied France. You follow the family as persecution and deportation dismantle their lives. The game stays with ordinary people rather than putting you on a battlefield or letting you change the course of history.

Their story takes place against the German occupation and the collaboration of the Vichy regime. It follows the round-ups that sent French Jews to their deaths, and includes Auschwitz as part of the Holocaust’s history.
