The Governor's Hand

Governing Arvennia

The Governor’s Hand is a card-based strategy game for PC about governing Arvennia, a remote frontier province in the Roman Empire. The Imperator sends you north for a single term, from Martius to December. The province has restless hill tribes, a thin treasury and a predecessor who left in a hurry.

Each card is an act of government: you might march out a cohort, collect taxes, seal a writ or call in a favor. You use your hand to respond to that month’s troubles, then face a crisis at its end. Each month also brings a petition to your court, with cases such as a widow’s debt, a druid in chains, a smuggler’s offer or an unlit beacon. There’s a trade in every answer, and the choices change from month to month.
