The Defective One

The Journey of Rock and Roll in The Defective One

In The Defective One, players explore the vibrant world of a high school band navigating the trials of adolescence and self-identity. Set against the backdrop of a Chinese mainland public high school in the 2020s, the narrative unfolds through the lens of personal choices and social interactions. As band members rehearse for their performance, they grapple with their own beliefs and attitudes, reflecting the diversity of voices within the group.

Band Dynamics and Character Choices

The game features five distinct characters, each contributing to the band's unique flavor. Players step into the shoes of the bassist, who must navigate their relationships with Jing Zijun, Lin Yiyan, Chen Jiwei, Cheng Xiaoyi, and others. As the story progresses, the introduction of Cheng Xiaoyi, a transgender female guitarist, adds complexity to the group's dynamics. Each character's perspective offers a different window into the challenges faced by teenagers today, especially within the LGBTQ+ community.
