Game type and premise

Taptown Funk is an incremental rhythm game where you develop a small town into a larger city. Players control construction by hovering the cursor to build structures as blueprints appear on screen. Timing is important, as tapping on the beat collects coins, which are crucial for progress.

Gameplay mechanics

You need to catch every coin for a perfect combo. Upon completing each building, a new level becomes available. If you run out of time, the music stops, and a disaster occurs, impacting your progress. When you fail to manage your time, you can spend collected cash on upgrades, improving your performance in subsequent runs.
