Counting Hallowshire

TALLY is a PC record-keeping game set in the county of Hallowshire, whose 1,847,201 residents must be written into a ledger for the Vestry. You earn a penny for each entry. The book tracks your entries alongside the strokes the room has heard, a count that stays higher and keeps growing whether you work or rest.

Parish returns

You can hire a boy, gravedigger, clerk, bell-ringer, and doctor to count while you sleep. Their tallies don’t always match what you would have counted. Returns from twelve parishes arrive for filing or rejection. Check each for contradictions, such as an infant listed with a trade, a death dated in the future, or a house already in your book. A false return you file comes back with its name struck out, and its people leave the book.
