Stake is a hardcore 2D text-and-grid survival simulation for PC, set in a procedurally generated region after the world has fallen. You scavenge, claim territory and fight the threats that control the area. The game centers on planning and logistics rather than twitch-reflex action: expeditions take time, carried weight is limited, and the day-night cycle changes what you can safely do.

Survival means tracking more than physical health. Hunger, thirst, rest, sanity and humanity all need attention. You can bandage bleeding wounds and use antiseptic against infection. Cigarettes, warm beer, pulp detective novels, faded polaroids and a battery-powered Walkman can help steady your nerves or hold onto your humanity.
