Anomaly spotting on a staircase

Staircase 8 is a short anomaly-spotting game set in an endlessly repeating Victorian stairwell. You climb the stairs and watch for changes, using what you notice to decide whether to continue upward or turn back.

Choosing a direction

Start by going upstairs. If you don't spot an anomaly, keep climbing. If you do, turn around and head downstairs. Going downstairs also increases the staircase number when you make the correct choice, and the goal is to make it past Staircase 8 to escape.
