Reconstruction: The Myth of Lincoln

Lincoln and Reconstruction

Reconstruction: The Myth of Lincoln is a turn-based political strategy game for PC set after an assassination attempt on Good Friday, 1865, leaves Abraham Lincoln alive and John Wilkes Booth in irons. You govern the peace for 203 weeks, making decisions that fell to Andrew Johnson in real history. Lincoln has his own judgment: some bold options remain locked until he hears from people such as Frederick Douglass and William T. Sherman, or encounters arguments in the partisan press.

Congress and the states

You count congressional votes bloc by bloc, sign or veto bills, and risk impeachment. The map covers the eleven former Confederate states, where occupation and readmission are at issue. You decide whether to keep troops and the Freedmen’s Bureau in place; withdrawing them means reports from those areas stop coming.
