Premise and gameplay

Recension is a single-player shooter centered on unrestricted six-degrees-of-freedom flight. You navigate an underground mine filled with hostile robots, requiring strategic exploration and combat. The environment is completely dark, requiring you to use various light sources such as lamps, flares, and your ship's headlight to navigate and reveal threats.

Combat and weapons

In the game, you face hostile machines while managing your resources. You can choose from four primary weapons and two missile types, each differing in range and handling. The gameplay emphasizes using light and sound strategically to manipulate enemy behaviors, as robots react to your visibility and noise.
