Rail Ops: Subdivisions is a persistent online railroad operations game where players manage locomotives, railcars, and freight within a larger working freight network. You start by selecting a subdivision to oversee and build track across realistically generated terrain in defined railroad subdivisions across North America. The game aims to create a connected representation of the continent's railroad network, with the environment actively expanding as players contribute to it.

Building the network

You can propose and define new subdivisions, routes, junctions, interchange points, and industrial locations through the Rail Ops web portal. Player-created additions undergo an approval process to ensure they align with real-world railroad geography while enhancing gameplay. As the network grows, it allows for more routes and regions to be constructed and operated.
