Prison Archive

Prison records investigation

Prison Archive is a PC investigation game about the 1994 disturbance at Marrow Creek Correctional Institution. The riot is over, and you’ve been assigned the case by the Records Division in New Bristol. Your job is to account for all 84 people on the roster, 56 inmates and the rest officers and civilian staff: what became of each person, who was responsible, and with what.

Searching the archive

The state’s records sit on a 1990s-style desktop terminal, filed by number. There’s no digitized index or keyword search, so you keep track of leads in the Notepad and type record numbers into the Archive. Records cite other numbered records you can open directly, but sometimes they mention a document without giving its number. In those cases, you have to work out where it’s filed.
