Penance

Penance on PC

Penance is a PC action game set in Ebenezer, a city burning after a revolution that protected its people for 500 years falls in a single night. You play as Elior, the man responsible for the disaster. His wife is dead because of his final mistake, and he has buried her outside the city. Now he waits in a courtyard as the invasion continues.

Combat and the Flame Meter

Elior has no health bar. Instead, a Flame Meter tracks his remaining life force. It drains constantly, drains faster when he uses powers, and cannot be restored. Combat is built around spending that limited time: each attack or ability has a cost, and every decision brings Elior closer to the end.
