Par Under Review

Game concept and mechanics

Par Under Review is a simulation game centered around the design and development of golf courses in the 1920s and 1930s. Players take on the role of a course designer who primarily works at a desk, evaluating blueprints and making decisions about the layout of each hole. Instead of playing golf, you simulate the gameplay by predicting outcomes using dice rolls to determine the distance of shots.

Decision-making process

Your decisions revolve around the placement of hazards and the design of the course layout, as you aim to provide golfers with both safe routes and more challenging options. You use a pair of dice to simulate the golfer’s performance, rolling them to see how well a shot lands. The choices you make in adjusting the course design reflect the principles of golf course architecture, where both strategy and chance play a role.
