NullGate

Game premise and genre

NullGate is a first-person roguelite where players navigate procedurally generated arenas while defeating enemies to accumulate kill streaks that translate into in-game currency. The arenas are created in real-time as players enter, with varying layouts and themes, and each run concludes when the player dies or successfully extracts.

Combat and weapons

In the game, movement serves as a primary weapon, with mechanics such as dashing, sliding, vaulting, wall-kicking, and grappling. You can carry two weapons at a time, with no penalty for switching between them during combat. Weapons include a pulse shotgun, a grappling SMG, a railgun, and a katana, each with unique abilities that enhance mobility as well as damage. Combating enemies involves dodging their slow, glowing projectiles, which players are encouraged to maneuver around rather than simply engage.
