On-rails shooting and music

Nova Sonata is a PC on-rails shooter set across musical alien worlds. You shoot enemies, dodge attacks and interact with objects as the game turns those actions into layers of a soundtrack. There’s no need to keep to a beat: your play creates the music rather than syncing with an existing backing track.

Rides and sound

The on-rails sections include light gun gameplay, mine cart rides and turret sections. Each planet has a different musical genre, along with enemies and objects to interact with. The game was made solo, with no AI-generated assets. It’s best played with headphones, though the game also suggests turning it up loud in public.
