Game premise and objective

Lumiere is a third-person action game set in a world engulfed in darkness after a cataclysm known as the Long Night of Fire. Players control two characters, Soleil, a girl with light manipulation abilities, and Umbra, a shapeshifting being of shadow. The objective is to unite a lost world by battling enemies, rescuing villagers, and exploring various environments to uncover secrets.

Light and shadow mechanics

At the core of Lumiere’s gameplay are the mechanics of light and shadow. As players switch between Soleil and Umbra, you can use Soleil’s light abilities to create shadows that serve multiple purposes. For instance, shadows can act as barriers to protect against enemies or be shaped into bridges for traversal across chasms. This intertwining of abilities allows for strategic combat and creative exploration throughout the game.
