KAESHI

A 2D sword-fighting beat ’em up

KAESHI is a 2D action beat ’em up set in a rainy mountain village, a bamboo forest and an old shrine. You play as Narumi Shizuka, a new swordswoman of the Hakurin, returning to her home village of Kaminashi after it’s been attacked by the dead.

Parrying and combos

Combat centers on timed parries. There’s no guard button, so you must parry each hit in an enemy’s flurry. Breaking an enemy’s posture opens the way to a Deathblow, while swinging without care can get you killed quickly. The parry window is described as fairly generous.
