Irbet Tong

A Quiet Quest in Irbet Tong

In Irbet Tong, a slice-of-life exploration game for PC, players walk in the shoes of a young boy from the Sakha people. Tasked by his mother to retrieve jam for tea, he embarks on a poignant journey through a village facing the harsh consequences of climate change. This game captures the unsettling reality of a landscape shaped by thermal degradation, inviting players to ponder their role in the natural world.

Decaying Landscapes and Stirring Narratives

As players traverse a slowly collapsing Yakutian village, they witness the ground beneath their feet giving way. Homes sink while the land itself seems to lose its grip. The narrative unfolds against a backdrop of real-life locations such as Sylan, Usun-Kyuyol, and Zyryanka, where the effects of industrialization and deforestation have left their scars. Through his exploration, the boy confronts not just physical decay but also the fading of cultural memories tied to these landscapes.
