Ghosts Cast No Shadow is a PC game about guarding a village gate at night and identifying yogoe, monsters from Korean folktales, among the visitors. Kim-seobang might be back from the woods, or a peddler might arrive from the road. You decide who is human and who is hiding something before letting them pass.

Clues at the gate

Hold up your lantern to check a visitor’s shadow. Ghosts cast none, while a disguised fox shows a tail in its shadow under a full moon. You can also compare visitors with the registry: Kim-seobang’s son is Manbok, so someone wearing his face but answering to Boksil is a fake. Visitors such as peddlers, who aren’t in the registry, can be asked for a travel pass.
