FILE 13

A desktop horror investigation

FILE 13 is a PC horror game about working as a freelance data-recovery technician. After signing up on a freelance site and taking your first job, you’re contacted by Mariam, who says she’s being held somewhere. You investigate through the files she sends, looking for clues about her location and what’s happening.

The game takes place entirely on a simulated Egyptian desktop. There are no corridors to explore: you work through messages, phone calls, a browser, a terminal and forensic tools. The computer is where you conduct the investigation, and it starts behaving differently as the case goes on.
