Competitive Music Creation in Etude

Etude transforms live improvisation into an engaging competitive music experience for up to six players. Working within a shared harmonic space called the Band Consensus, each note you play becomes a critical vote regarding which musical roots and scales remain "in bounds." The more harmonious your contributions, the more you strengthen the band's performance. However, stray outside the Consensus, and your notes fall silent, penalizing your Elo-style rating without disrupting others.

Modes for Every Situation

Players can jump into Etude in two main modes: MIDI and QWERTY Sequencer. With MIDI Mode, connect a keyboard to play notes directly, aligning seamlessly with the Consensus. For those less hardware-inclined or looking for rhythmic creativity, QWERTY Sequencer Mode lets you build loop banks with your keyboard. Each key triggers unique melodic patterns, allowing you to layer and manipulate your creations live, all while singing in harmony with your fellow players.
