Doug's Playground

Game premise and objectives

Doug's Playground is a fishing and character-building game where you find yourself on an island with no memory of how you got there. You are accompanied by Doug, a talking blob of mercury, who asks for your help to restore his stolen playground from King Roland. To do this, you need to catch fish, which you offer to the King as payment. As you bring back the playground piece by piece, the island begins to awaken, revealing secrets and new characters.

Fishing mechanics

You fish using an intuitive system that requires you to watch for bites, manage the line, and keep the fish in the catch zone. The game features various species of fish from both saltwater and freshwater habitats. Each fish type has its own weight category, and some only bite at certain times, adding a time management aspect to your fishing efforts. Additionally, you can drop crab traps in shallow tide pools to catch shellfish for cooking and selling.
