Game premise and playstyle

Cognito Zero is a story-based, first-person stealth game set in a high-security prison. You play as Jay Rivers, a death row inmate suffering from retrograde amnesia, with two weeks left before your execution. The objective is to outsmart dynamic AI guards using clever tactics such as sabotage and observation to orchestrate your escape. Throughout the game, you will need to gather resources, utilize the prison's environment, and navigate through shifting prison politics to piece together your identity and secure your freedom.

AI behavior and environmental interaction

The game's guards operate with behavior-driven AI, adhering to specific routines, which include patrolling, inspecting, and resting. You can disrupt their activities by tampering with the environment, creating opportunities for stealthy escapes. Players will face practical environmental puzzles that require luring staff away from checkpoints or causing distractions through methods like jamming appliances or cutting power circuits.
