Game modes and player count

Berserkers offers several modes for players. Holmgang is a one-on-one mode where the first player to win five rounds emerges victorious, and there are no shelters to hide behind. Warbands pits teams of four against each other in a five-minute match between Aesir and Jotnar. Gjallarhorn tasks players with carrying a horn while scoring against others who try to take it from you. The Hunt is a mode for up to four players where you hold a ward against ongoing waves of enemies, while Fridr provides a quieter environment in Alfheim, devoid of threats.

Combat and weapons

Combat in the game revolves around the use of two ropes, controlled by the left and right hands, which can be fired independently. Holding both ropes allows you to swing as a pendulum, while releasing one lets you move on an arc, and releasing the other results in falling. Players use an axe to defeat enemies, where a clean cut on an enemy's heart results in an instant kill, but the timing window is small. Missing the heart results in less damage, making achieving that precise hit the key challenge.
