Game premise and modes

Backrooms: Outpost 998 is a story-driven survival game for PC. In it, you play as a worker for the M.E.G., who becomes stranded in the Backrooms after a portal breaks during a routine mission. The game allows you to explore various levels of the Backrooms, including Level 0, Level 98, Level 222, Level 40, and Level 998. You can play solo or with friends in multiplayer mode.

Gameplay and objectives

You must navigate through different levels, discovering hidden paths and uncovering secrets to find a way out. The game includes multiple game modes: Easy mode has no entities or sanity loss, Normal mode introduces entities and the risk of sanity deterioration, while Purgatory mode sends you back to Level 0 upon death, similar to Normal mode.
