The BR Class 14 DLC for Trainz Simulator 12 invites players to immerse themselves in the intricate world of British railways. This add-on enhances the base game with authentic locomotives and custom features, offering a unique glimpse into a fascinating period of railway history. Players can now experience the versatile Class 14 locomotives, originally designed for light line operations in the UK.

The History Behind the Class 14 Locomotives

British Rail developed the Class 14 locomotives to fill the shoes of the ex-GWR Pannier Tanks, which had long served their purpose in shunting and short-haul services. Powering these machines was a robust Paxman 6-cylinder Ventura engine, delivering 650 hp through Voith hydraulic transmission. Despite a promising start, they faced rapid decline as the traffic they were built for dwindled, leading many units to be stored after just two years of service.
