Discover the History Behind the Flying Scotsman

Launched in 1923, the Flying Scotsman was designed by the visionary Sir Nigel Gresley and quickly became a symbol of British steam innovation. It made headlines by becoming the first steam locomotive to exceed 100 mph, achieving this remarkable feat of engineering during its storied career. This Loco Add-On draws from that rich heritage, showcasing the locomotive in its LNER black color, which was used in the late 1940s before it was repainted into the more widely recognized green livery.
