Brush Traction's Type 2 locomotives, classified as the BR Class 31, were pivotal in the early days of diesel railways. Designed to deliver between 1000 and 1499 horsepower, these locos filled a crucial slot on lower-priority passenger and freight services. The initial deployment began in the Eastern Region, but the fleet quickly expanded nationwide, delivering performance that made it a reliable choice for British Railways’ modernization plan.
